I haven't played with the patching yet and TBH I don't plan to, if I do I will post my findings. attempt to run the game in winxp - win95 compatibility mode. then under compatibility tick the option for disable display scaling on high dpi settings. And some optional choices to replace the dday intro car (370Z) & first career car (240SX) Prostreet Presets: Aki Kimura RX-7 (Replace bonus ver.) Karol Monroe Mustang GT (Replace collector edition ver. right click on the nfs.exe and go properties. Inspired by KylaAngelineKZYengs Custom Preset Mod, this mod will replace some of the bonus & diecast cars. E:steamsteamappscommonNeed for Speed Undercover. This is what worked for me! If this doesn't work for you- locate the game executable (nfs.exe) in the steam directory. Also the games menu seems a bit buggy when you first launch the game wait until after the intro and setup the game how you'd like, don't forget the eye candy! GL & HF. It should work right out of the gate just by adding -single_core however I also have all of the windows 7 eye candy turned off, I'm using windows classic theme. This worked perfect for me! I didn't have to use any compatibility setting etc. In your game library right click need for speed undercover > properties > set launch options > add "-single_core" (without quotes) to the advance launch options text field. I got the game to run using an advance launch option VIA steam.
It seems the problem isn't the OS it's the multiple cpus most of us are running. I was having problems running this game on windows 7, it would just crash at the intro.
